Embellished Photo Card

In Rememberance of my brother during this season I added a special emellishment to our annual Christmas Card. I just created the ornament image w/clipart and wordart and printed it out. Glued one of Tim Holtz' ornament shaped fragments on top of image with Glossy Accents then cut out, added gold ribbon and attached to card. The ornament reads, "We Remember 2009".

Halloween cards from this weekend

Used Making Memories paper on left side and Stampin Up! paper on the right; Spider Image was cut from vintage halloween paper by The Rusty Pickle.

On this one I used Black Magic Core'dinations Paper run thru the Cuttlebug using the Spiderweb Texture plate by Fiskars then sanded to reveal the purple core of the paper; Added a Martha Stewart spider sticker and used Stampin' Up glitter to color it; The Oct 31st stamped image was cut out using deckle edge scissors then inked w/ Concord distress ink.

Okay, so it's been awhile---I apologize (especially to my faithful followers!). I actually made a few cards on World Card Making Day. Here are a couple:

On the first card: used Martha Stewart Spider Stamp on Stampin Up! orange polka dot paper; added Making Memories spiderweb/scripted papers. Cut out Oct. 31st stamped image w/deckle edged scissors and inked w/ Spiced Marmelade Distress Inks.

On the second card: used my new Stampin Up! From the Crypt stamp w/starry night black embossing powder on the green Basic Grey papers from the Lemonade collection.

Gatefold Sun Card

Okay, so this Gatefold Sun/Friendship card is for two challenges: Cuttlebug Challenges Be Inspired #42and the new Ready-Steady-Stamp challenge blog.

Cuttlebug Challenges blog's challenge was to create a gatefold card for friendship week, of course using the Cuttlebug!

Ready, Steady, Stamp's challenge was a list of ingredients:

• use a triangle
• the color yellow
• the sun
• use acetate
• use ribbon
• and, of course, use a stamp!

Here is my tool/supply list:

• Cuttlebug embossing folders: Cirles and Dots, Bubbles, Swiss Dot
• Ranger Distress Ink: Mustard Seed
• Core'dinations Mustard paper w/light yellow core
• sanding block
• acetate
• clear embossing powder/heat gun
• gold Sun charm
• Butterscotch alcohol ink
• white cs, DCWV yellow textured cs, yellow cs
• sun stamp by Club Scrap
• glossy cs
• white ribbon w/orange and yellow starburst flowers

First, I inked up a panel of glossy cs w/Butterscotch alcohol ink. Then, I made a gatefold card out of white cs; I cut stripes of the textured yellow cs, the white cs, the yellow cs, the Core'dinations Mustard cs and the inked glossy cs. I embossed the yellow and white cs w/Swiss Dot ef. The white stripe I inked over w/Mustard Seed distress ink. I embossed the Core'dinations cs w/Circle and Dots ef and sanded it do reveal the core. On the left side of the card I created a mosaic with triangles cut from these five stripes. On the right side of card I centered a panel of the inked glossy cs and layered it over with acetate that I hand printed out on my printer and heat embossed w/clear embossing powder to set the ink. I added triangles above and below this panel. I stamped the sun image on white cs w/Mustard Seed Distress ink; cut it in half diagonally to make two triangles. It is difficult to see but I cut triangles out of acetate and embossed them w/the Bubbles ef; then colored them with Butterscotch alcohol ink; then layered them on the two previous triangles of stamped image then added the sun charm; layered this on the Core'dinations square and sanded edges; layered again on white cs that was inked with the Mustard seed; adhered to left side of gatefold card. On the inside, I embossed the center and right panels. Added the ribbon to the right panel. I hope I remembered everything.

Ready.... Steady.... Stamp: Challenge #1

Ready... Steady, Stamp is a new stamping challenge blog that provides a list of ingredients for the projects their followers are to use. Here is my submission for the very first challenge!

The ingredients were:

Technique: Faux Batik---which they provided a video tutorial for!

Here I edged the ripped printed paper w/a gold ink pen; added gold accents to the word 'boo' with the same pen; used Martha Stewart spider stamp on dictionary page for faux batik technique (that was sooooooooo cool, BTW); the cat/pumpkin/boo are a rub-on as well as the sentiment; added gold ribbon and three different colored brads.

Hope I entered in time as I know most followers are 'across the pond'!

Cuttlebug Challenge Be Inspired #41

Here is my entry for Cuttlebug Challenge's Be Inspired #41 Challenge---to alter something. Here I have altered a glossy front journal and made it into a scrapbook that looks like a purse for my daughter to fill up with her many treasures and memories :)

Since the original journal was glossy I used alcohol inks w/blending solution to create that deep purple watery effect. I used glossy white and gold papers. I embossed the gold paper w/Sizzix embossing folder (from a birthday set but it looks like eyelet to me) and edged both the gold and white papers with the Martha Stewart Doily Lace Edge punch. I used the Paper Shapers corner punch on the embossed gold paper to add to bottom corners. I took the Memory Boutique shaped chipboard and used gold mixative alcohol ink on it to make it gold. I then heated up some gold embossing powder (3 layers) and stamped my daughter's initial "D" into it before it cooled. Added the ribbons and chain to make it look like a purse.

The Cuttlebug Challenge blog this week had a sketch. Here is my entry. I am just lovin' the pink and black together! And I love my new Core'dinations papers!! Way too much fun!

Sometimes.....ya' just gotta LAUGH

The Cuttlebug Challenges blog has provided us with a woodsy creature challenge with a color palette of orange, lime green and turquoise. Additionally, they asked that we use twigs or stones or something else from nature.

Don't you just love the moment in a very frustrating situation when you realize---ya' just gotta laugh!!! I can't wait until such a situation comes up for a friend now because I have just the perfect card for that moment!!!

I cut out a panel from the Friendly Forest papers w/owl on branch part. Added vellum sentiment; The right side I embossed w/folder and inked over w/Dried Marigold Distress inks; hand wrote two parts of sentiment w/orange gel pen and cut out w/deckle edge scissors; inked edges w/sponge and Broken China Distress ink; adhered w/pop dots; added fibers and twigs to finish it off.

Cuttlebug Challenge Be Inspired! #38

This week's Be Inpired! challenge at Cuttlebug Challenge is to use red, white and blue with buttons. Also, they are showcasing the new Cuttlebug Star Embossing Folder. Since it is not yet released, we are to use the Swiss Dot embossing folder in our designs (but their design team used the new folder so check out their creations!!). The new Star Folder has a repeated star pattern----with the stars being a bit larger and more "tented' if you will---meaning a deeper impression. Being inspired by the embossing folder, I decided to hand cut my own stars and use my stylus to make score lines from the tip of each point of the star and folding to re-create that 'tented' look on the folder. I ran two of these white stars thru the Cuttlebug w/Swiss Dot ef and then inked over using a direct to paper techique on the stars to pop the dots and tented edges of each point. Additionally, I used the new Core'dination paper (the dark blue w/light blue core) for the center hand cut star and sanded the 'tented' egdes of each point to reveal the light blue center of the paper. These papers are SO much fun to use with your Cuttlebug embossing folders----and our Joann's just started carrying them (thanks again June!). I used foam dots to maintain the dimension of the stars before adhering them over the red and white striped ribbon strip on card. Added the buttons to the center of each star.

I used a stamp I had that looked like a firework spray for the background effect on the white panel on the card and also as a background under the sentiment in the inside. I used my Design Runner w/red ink cartridge and Greetings cartridge to print out "Celebrate". I cut this sentiment out using my deckle edge scissors. The sentiment inside was stamped w/both inks on white paper and cut out using these same scissors. Both sentiment panels were inked using a sponge for a kind of distressed look.
