Horse Hair Bracelets

My newest endeavor: Horse Hair Bracelets!

My daughter's teacher had to put down her sick horse a few weeks ago. She thought it would be nice to have a bracelet made from his hair as a memento. She knew that Dria and I had been making jewelry together so asked if we could help. Let me tell you, it was quite challenging. For one, we were used to working with beads and wire. Doing some research I had found some tutorials on how to make the bracelets from horse hair. Only, neither of us could braid a round braid. That made it difficult as the end caps we had were circular. Finally, after many less than terrific attempts, I found some end caps with flat rectangular openings---like the shape of the flat braid we were trying to fit into them. Alas, some success. Although this is not my finest work I am fairly pleased with the last one I completed (the one with the belt buckle clasp).

Steampunk Charm Swap

A quick blog post today showing you some charms I made for a swap on a yahoo group I belong to. We had to make eight each of two designs. Already sent mine in but made an extra each for myself---here they are. I stamped the gear onto a metal round with Stazon ink. Used paper from an old math book for the background paper in that charm as well. The bottle is simply filled with tiny watch parts. I call it "Time in a Bottle." One of those is going on my Etsy shop.

I also made some steampunk angel ornaments unrelated to this swap but if you want to see them they are on the previous post :)

Steampunk Angel Ornaments

Hello All, I know---haven't posted in awhile. Doesn't mean I haven't been creative, though! I really wanted to do an Angel Steampunk theme for Christmas. This is what I came up with:

Okay, so again---having problems with blogger rotating the pics back to their original direction even though I changed this in Photoshop. Anyone know a way around this please feel free to let me know!

Back to the ornaments. Obviously, I have been on a jewelry tangent lately. Dria and I have been making jewelry together the past couple of weeks. We even made some bracelets out of horse hair (long story I will save for another post). These ornaments just sort of evolved. As I said, I have been thinking about an Angel Steampunk theme so I made myself a necklace with pieces I have honestly had laid out on one of my work spaces in my craft studio for months! Once I made one I had to make 3 more, each a bit different dependent on what I had in my stash. Then I made them into ornaments using fragment charms, alcohol ink and a Gears Stamp by Technique Tuesday using a technique featured on Tim Holtz' tag #5. Really cool technique where Archival ink actually removes the alcohol ink---go check it out!

Once completed I just had to make containers for them (it's all about presentation, right?) Yup, those are re-purposed embossing folder packages. All I had to do was cut and emboss matching paper to have as a background. Each Angel has a lobster clasp on it so it can be taken off the ornament to wear as a necklace. Love this dual purpose ornament! Fun little pressies for friends!

A quick little post for two challenges:

Fun with ATCs: Halloween ATC
Creative Card Crew: Spooky Fun

So, had some spooky little fun doing a casual ATC trade with friends. These are three separate ATCs. Just loving those ATCs!

I used the Cricut to cut out the Spooky Frames. The Silouettes are from some halloween paper. Embossed the background cs with a dotted embossing folder. Added the confetti spider and web then inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

Textured to Perfection

Today's post is for the Textured to Perfection Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. As the title suggests, the challenge is to use texture in an innovative manner. Also, I am entering this in Charisma Cardz Challenge: Black and Orange.

I added these close-ups so you can get a better idea of the depth and texture the Bark roll provides.

This is my Spooky ATC. I used Bark Roll which I found in the floral department of m local craft store. It came in either bright green or light beige. Here I used the light beige and colored it with Wild Honey Distress Stain. I then used it as the background on my ATC. The Skull image is from Stampin' Up! and it was stamped on acetate and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I stamped 'spooky' (also a Stampin' Up! stamp) on old text paper then embossed with clear embossing powder. Inked it over with Wild Honey Distress inkpad then ironed off the clear embossing powder using newsprint. I embossed 'spooky' again on acetate using black embossing powder and layered it over the spooky on the text paper for a reverse shadow effect. Hope you like it. Thanks to all that recently voted for my project in the Graphic 45 Halloween Rejuvenation Challenge. I believe I came in 3rd---behind 2nd place by 12 or 13 votes. I really enjoyed the challenge and watching the live voting. I met some new friends along the way, too. In the words of Wendy Vecchi, "It is amazing how art can change strangers into friends!"

I cannot believe my baby girl is turning 8!!

Where has the time gone?

Every year we brainstorm about what kind of invitation and party theme we are going to do. This year was no different. We started by thinking about what we have done in years past. When thinking of the water balloon invite from a couple years ago we decided to utilize a balloon again. This time we would write on the balloon then deflate it and include it in the invitation. Once we decided to go with a scavenger hunt theme (it's amazing how popular these are-- per Google) we knew we wanted to incorporate that into the invite. Thus, the idea of the Cyber Wild Goose Chase Invitation began.

Now, if you have gotten here during the Wild Goose Chase (from www.driasbirthdayblog.blogspot.com ), I won't spoil it for you. All I can tell you is your next step is to leave a comment here on this blog then wait for an email directly from me. To leave a comment you just need to go to the bottom of this post and click on the comments link. It will bring up a box for you to type in. For those of you just visiting my blog-- here is what has transpired so far:
Invitees were hand delivered a deflated balloon with a message written on it and a rolled up message inside. Attached was a tag saying, "Blow me up!" Once blown up, the writing on the balloon stated, "Pop me!". Then the hidden message inside could be unraveled. It welcomed them to the Cyber Wild Goose Chase Invitation and directed them to go to driasbirthdayblog.blogspot.com. You can backtrack there if you wish to see the message and directions posted there. ----I will post a follow up at a later date revealing the rest of the invite for those interested.

Zen Grungy Monday 3

Okay, those that know me know that this is not my typical style card. Was having a go at Zentangle for the Order of the Opus Gluei challenge and playing with my newAdirondack Color Washes by Ranger for the Grungy Monday Challenge #3 hosted by the lovely Linda over at StudioL3 . The Grungy Monday challenges are in honor of Tim Holtz and his many products and techniques. I managed to combine the two challenges in this one card using Stampin Up! stamps no less----what a menagerie of supplies/tools etc!! So, not to go on too much of a tangent here, but, I started with a technique from Jennifer McGuire's blog using the Pearl Paint Dabber from Ranger. You can see the technique on the video in this post. Funny thing is, I had the Pearl Paint dabber on my wish list so long (after seeing this video when it was originally posted) that when I finally got one I couldn't rememeber why I wanted it--ha! I did remember that it had to do with something I had seen on Jennifer's blog so I was able to do some research and found out why. Okay, so the tangent is over, back to the card. I used the technique to create the background using the Wild Plum Color Wash and the Stampin' Up! stamp. Cheated a bit with my first crack at Zentangle and did it on little triangles to create the pennant banner. Have to say, I did like doing it and it is as calming and therapuetic as they say so if you are so inclined, give it I try!

Clean and Simple #135: Sketch

This is my first time entering this challenge. The card is for my MIL and last night when I saw this sketch on another entrant's blog I knew exactly how I was going to make the card for her. We made two of these butterflies together at Christmas time when she was here for a visit. We put one on card for her friend's birthday. I knew she just loved that butterfly so it is perfect that it ended up on a card made just for her.

Grungy Monday #2

Okay, so really need to figure out why this keeps happening----images I have rotated in Photoshop won't upload to blogger that way---they revert back to sideways (as the picture was taken). If anyone knows how to remedy this I sure would appreciate it if you would email me.

This is for the new blog challenge Grungy Mondays hosted by Linda over at StudioL3. This challenges are done using the the influence of Tim Holtz whether it by techniques, products, ideas or sheer inspiration from him. For this technique my images didn't show up all that well. Think I used a bit too much Matte Multi Medium. Used what I created to enhance this card I made for my hubby's bday tomorrow. If you look close enough you can see on the ripped text paper a steampunk like image to the right on a small ruler image on the ripped piece on the left. I used packaging from one of Tim's idea-ology products to create the pocket watch to make it 3D.

CCC#34: Dimensional Collage Fragments

Okay, we're getting down to the wire on these challenges. Only one more to go after this one..............This is for StudioL3's CCC challenge, of course!
This was great fun: Dimensional Collage Fragment. As you can see, I used the largest fragment for this. Used my Cricut with the Summer in Paris cartridge to cut out the ornate old-fashioned chair. Used a script stamp by Inkadinkadoo. And, of course used Distress Inks: Frayed Burlap and Rusty Hinge. Used some old time background patterned paper. Added a bit of Tim Holtz' tissue tape and a cut out from a misc. piece of paper and viola! Simples...................

CCC#33: Altered Metal

This is my offering for the CCC#33 Challenge: Altered Metal with Alcohol Inks. This challenge has been ongoing since June 2010 by Miss Linda over at StudioL3. Only two more challenges before we are through the entire book: Compendium of Curiosities by Tim Holtz. Wonder what Miss Linda has up her sleeve for all of us once this challenge comes to an end. We are all waiting in anticipation................

Anyway, after many conversations with my crafting friends about using what we have and finishing projects we have started I decided to ink up this clock I picked up on clearance with the intention of altering it. Yee-Haw! Western Bday card w/a sketch!

Very windy day here in Northern VA. You'd be hard pressed keeping your cowboy hat on today, that's fer sure! Had the thought for this card in my head once I woke up this morning. Was able to whip it up quickly. I swear, the design part is what takes me so long. I have to admit, though that sketch challenges are really difficult to me. I guess cause I am a rule follower but in my craft room I let myself create without boundaries. Once you introduce a sketch it baffles me. I start asking, 'well, what if I want to do this, or that---is it okay?' Funny story about me and rules, but more on that later in this post (scroll down after supply this if you are interested). For this card I am using the sketch provided at Order of the Opus Gluei blog challenge. I am also entering this in the Outlawz Western Party--Birthday Challenge.

Okay, and now for my story. Learned/realized a little something about myself this week, well maybe a couple of things. Anyway, went downtown to join a friend for a cup of coffee. Had to park along the curb with meter parking. It's not like I have never put money in a meter before, but somehow my head wasn't really thinking. I saw that there was 7 minutes left on the meter. Reached into my wallet and grabbed a bunch of change. Started randomly feeding the meter while reading that there was a two hour limit. Just then, thinking in minutes, I saw that I was up to 1:20. Now, I thought, 120 mintues=2 hours, and 2 hours was the limit. I didn't want it to appear that I was going to stay longer than two hours so stopped feeding the machine coins. Went on about my business, visiting, chatting and sharing. The first meter man came by, didn't think anything of it, cause I had two hours, right??? Then the second meter guy came past the coffee shop when it dawned on me, 1:20 means 1 hour twenty minutes!! Went running to my car, yup, a ticket---my first ever, cause, well, I am a rule follower! I was so insensed. I always follow the rules. In my mind I had done the right thing and still got into trouble. While I realized it was my error in thinking, it just bruised my integrity. I, 'miss do everything by the book', was in trouble. Brought me to tears---must have been a funny site, a 47 year old women crying about a $10 ticket--ha! Guess I never realized how much I prided myself on following rules until now. And, how ditzy I can be---well, I KNEW that!!!!

This was a challenge for me. I generally don't do CAS so it is hard not to just keep on adding ;) Hope this qualifies! I actually inked the Rays Texture fade with Broken China Distress Ink before running it thru the Cuttlebug (learned this from Tim Holtz). Used the Styled Labels Movers and Shapers Die from Tim Holtz Alterations line to cut the red mat under the Howdy Stamp (which is Stampin' Up!). It was embossed with Provo Craft's Swiss Dot embossing folder. Did all this to play along with the ladies over at the Outlawz ning group. They are having a Western themed party this week with TONS of sponsors with great prizes.

A quick entry for Simon Says Stamp and Show: Embossing. Used the 'Summer in Paris' cartridge for the dress forms. (5.5 inch size cutout). Used Martha Stewart's Doily Lace Border Punch, Fiskars' Oval border punch, Worn Lipstick Distress Ink by Ranger/Tim Holtz with blending tool, Provo Craft's Swiss Dot Embossing Folder, Basic Grey Designer paper, Damask background stamp by Great Impressions, Scalloped Oval punch by Stampin' Up!, Pink card and pink and white cardstocks, misc ribbon and tiny buttons. The sentiments were computer generated. The image on the matching envelope was done by using the negative portion of the cutout as a stencil and using the Damask stamp and the Worn Lipstick Distress ink with blending tool to color it in.

Gingersnaps Creations: Coffee and Cream

Here is my quick and simple submission for the Gingersnaps Creations Challenge: Coffee and Cream. Had some fun creating a matching envie too. The dressform was cut with my Cricut using the Summer in Paris Cartridge. I stamped the top half with a script background stamp using Tea Dye Distress ink and inked the edges as well as the stand with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The sentiment was computer generated, cut out and distressed then adhered on top of text and cs punched with Martha Steward Doily lace border punch. The main card was stamped with a threaded desgin before the inked text was layered on top. The main background was embossing with Provo Craft embossing folder: Houndtooth. A simple decrotive brad was used on top of the dressform. And finally, the lace around the waist was tucked down with one of Tim Holtz mini safey pins from his Idea-ology line.

CCC#30 + 2nd Entry Order of the Opus Gluei+ one

My creative muse was jumped started today and got my entry for the CCC#30 over at StudioL3 done a day in advance--whoo hoo! And, this is my 2nd entry for the Order of the Opus Gluei: Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner! Also, I would like to add this to Corrosive Challenges by Janet: Reduce, Reuse, Recyle.
The CCC#30 was Altered Metal with Paint technique. The word stick was altered and I attempted the metal photo corner as well but not as successful. Used bubblewrap with Black Soot Distress Ink to stamp the dotted pattern on the background. Used Barn Door Distress Ink to stamp script stamp. Used red plastic mesh from Babel Cheese as accent on bottom of the tag. The chicken image is off the internet. The word stick and filmstrip ribbon and metal photo corner are all by Tim Holtz. Used my fun Tiny Attacher by Tim to attach the meshe and filmstrip ribbon!

CCC#29 Weathered Wood Grunge/Take a Word: Vintage Challenge

Okay, so I didn't go with the weathered wood look here, but I did use the technique! This is for the CCC#29 over at StudioL3 blog hosted by the wonderful Linda Ledbetter! And also for Take a Word Challenge Blog: Vintage Started it last night and finished it up this a.m. I really had no idea what I was going to do other than use the grunged techniqued keyhole as the main accent. It is amazing what you can come up with when you start looking through your stash. Didn't even know I had this picture of a lady on text paper---found in a stack of vintage papers by friend Sheryl had shared with me. Worked perfect in the keyhole. Got to use my new washers from Tim Holtz Idea-ology line. Added the key from Lost and Found. And, of course, that is more tissue tape from Tim Holtz as well. Used sage acrylic paint and Tea Dye Distress ink for the technique. Then used Shabby Shutters Distress Ink for the rest of the card.

CCC#24: Rock Candy Distress Stickles

Haven't crafted in a while but really wanted to participate in the CCC#24 so jammed this out this morning. Just got this ATC stamp by Stampers Anonymous and had to use it right away. Made it simple: Stamped the image in Archival ink onto a pre-cut ATC. Didn't have the nibs by Ranger so I pulled out my old blender pen----used to color in the images with Distress Inks Barn Door, Vintage Photo, Faded Blue Jeans and Pine Needles. Covered the entire piece in Rock Candy Distress Stickles. And the blue rhinestones for the finishing touch. Quick but fun---just the crafty fix I needed. Happy Holidays all!!

What fun little flashback here---inspired by Flashback Friday 4.0. The challenge there is to 'repost' the earliest Christmas card you ever blogged. Well, mine goes way back to 2007 (although I didn't get around to blogging it till early 2008). Anyway, you have to repost it currently and at their website link it to your original post. Fun to see how your style and skills have changed. I always do a photo card but that year I actually did a card and added a printed photo. Yes, my style and photography skills are vastly different but, all in all, this card still brings special memories to me...........

Another fun Halloween creation. Don't really care for spiders too much but this card was fun to make. followed the sketch over at Sketches4u for their Scariest Halloween Card contest.

I know, my card is not all that scary but to me it is due to the icky spider thing. Anyway, other than the sketch and theme you also had to add bling so I added the sparkly ribbon and stamped the sentiment w/my glue pen and added purple glitter for more bling.

I am also going to add this to the Drunken Stampers challenge and for Dezinaworld, both challenges being Halloween.

I guess I most probably am done crafting for the day as we are going to be off shortly to the kids' Fall Festival at their school. Then, maybe a nap?!? (should I, could I dream???)

"Charm"ing Anniversary

Can you guess what anniversary we are celebrating this year??? Love numbers, don't know why............And, as the Design Divas know, there is something about me and text---specifically what text ends up in my projects without purposely choosing. So I have to share about the picture. I used an old book as a background for the card to photograph it. I just randomly opened it up and put it down on the table with the card placed on top. As soon as I looked down I realized that it was opened to chapter 13. Simply unbelievable, yet no unexpected with my past experiences. Anyway, fun night planned with the hubby............

So, the Design Divas had a challenge......in a nutshell: Do something you have never done before and create something to demonstrate/illustrate how it made you feel. Also, we had to use something from our stash that we hadn't used yet. Something I had never done before was to RAK someone (merely because I never can seem to get to the post office, like it's the dentist office or something---ha!). Anyway, on the All Things Tim Yahoo group they started (or perhaps re-started) an organized RAKing system for those in our group that may need uplifting for whatever reason. So, I bit the bullet (oh, the commitment ;)) and submitted my name the first time a request went out. I really enjoyed it so did it again the next week when another request went out. Well, long story not so short---I created this tag to illustrate the emotions involved. For my never used stash I used the metal keyhole 'brad' and the copper ribbon.

Okay, so I got caught up in so many different things this week. By Friday, still hadn't done the CCC#14 challenge so resolved myself to the fact that it just wasn't happening this week. Then, on Sat. walked into my Craft room, sat down and this just 'happened'---totally had a Tim moment ;) Got to use two of my new Tim items: The Tiny Attacher and The Enamel Accents (so, so easy to use btw). So lovin' doing ATCs too! They are so quick and easy!

Wow, this was a fun project. Part of my "processing" project, actually. In the past 10 months I have been on a journey of sorts. Through this journey I have become keenly aware of certain words that have repeatedly come up and have caught my focus. I have gone from truth to meaning, etc. Most recently the word dream has been in my thoughts. This project has come to represent my realization that truly, I have a ticket to ride................I have this one life, my ticket and I'm gonna ride it!!! This is an inspirational piece that I am going to frame and keep close to remind me to ride...........

Woo Hoo, got it done before the weekend again! Continuing with the lovely Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities Challenge................#12: Chipped Enamel Technique from page 14 of T!m's book. I did a quick and simple tag this week.

I was going for a sunflower look. My kids start school the day after Labor day and I always associate this with sunflowers. My explanation: On my son's first day of kindergarten (5 years ago) I sent him off on the bus only to find myself unexpectedly burst into tears (he is obviously my first born). My first reaction was to grab my then toddler daughter and jump in the car and run down to the school to see him get off the bus. I was not alone in this sentiment, as there were moms in minivans actually following the bus;) I still remember waiting in the school parking lot where the busses drop the kids and my daughter being mesmorized by the tall sunflowers along the wall of the school. The elementary school has a tradition every year of holding 'sunflower day' where they dress in yellow, green and or brown and each class goes outside at some point during the day to plant sunflower seeds. So, enough of my sentimental blah, blah, blah..........What images does back to school conjure up for you?????

This week's technique was Tim's Blending Batik. This is such a fun one. Fun to see how your work transforms thru the process.................

I used Dried Marigold, Wild Honey and Black Soot Distress Inks. The wings stamp is from Tim Holtz line thru Stampers Anonymous. The skull stamp is from Stampin' Up! The Texture fade is Patchwork by Tim Holtz Alterations line. The Tag line (metal word w/chain) is by Karen Foster the spider punch is from Martha Stewart. Guess I was kinda all over the page w/different elements/designers--ha! Happy Halloween....................

My First ATC!

Okay, I just completed my very first ATC and I think I'm in love! Can't explain it but it seems my 'canvases' keep getting smaller and smaller. I started out as a scrapbooker then made the inevitable transition to cardmaking. I loved card making because it was a quicker process and because it was so satisfying to give to someone. Then, once I became an avid T!m follower I naturally started making tags and loved it. And today, an ATC that took nearly no time to make and I just love the result. Of course, I do find myself putting my tags as embellies on cards and I figure that is where some of my future ATCs will end up. As a matter of fact, was just looking at a scrapbook page done a few months ago: noticed that I had used a tag and put it on the front of a card, and not knowing what to do with the card, ended up cutting the front of the card and slapping it on a scrapbook page. You can see it here. Too funny..........

On another note: I picked the colors for this ATC based on the Basic Grey Challenge Blog's challenge to use Pearls. I knew I only had sage colored pearls so I used that as my color scheme. Only prob was that I couldn't locate the pearls in my craft room once I was ready to add them. Finally found them today, and in time to still enter the challenge, woo hoo!

Okay, so I have to admit---I don't own any of Wendy Vecchi's stamps, yet--ha! (although I have admired her for some time now). So, I had to improvise. I used Tim Holtz' Tattered Floral die on grungepaper then inked up the flowers w/distress inks. Then, I stamped the splattered dots on them using a Hero Arts stamp. Then I took a black pen drew the outline in. I am sure Wendy's stamps are much easier.............

The bird and its wing has Rock Candy Distress Stickles on it as seen in the close up picture.

This card was made for the family of a man that was very kind to my family when my brother passed away less than 8 months ago. To my brother, he was a boss and mentor. He was very generous in offering up reward money for information in the arrests of the persons responsible for my brother's death. He spent his life in service to Laguna Beach and made such a positive contribution to that community. He will be sorely missed there by many.

Drunken Stamper's Challenge: Vacation

I obviously went with the Vacation theme with emphasis on travel. Was so fun to make a vintage style travel tag. I am entering this in the Drunken Stamper's Challenge#23. Haven't entered that challenge in awhile but got a new French Post Card stamp and thought it would work perfectly! For the photo strip I actually put clear packing tape on some of T!m's Lost and Found papers then soaked in warm water and rubbed the paper off the back. Leaves you with a transparent film effect.

Every attempt ended in disappointment (but now I have lots of bits and pieces for other projects!). I'm Being Published!

Exciting news today...................For awhile now I have toyed w/the idea of submitting some of my work for publication. On a whim, I finally did it---I submitted a scrapbook layout and a card. I recently received word that my card will be published in the Scrapbook News and Review Magazine on June 20th! My first published work. Unfortunately, I cannot post the card for you to see here. I can tell you that it is a Girly Graduation Card I made for my Niece Ashton who just graduated from High School (Woo Hoo Ashton!!). Well, so much for tooting my own horn ;)

This is a card for my son's friend who is turning 10. At that age they don't want anything cutesy anymore. Went with masculine colors and twine for a boyish look. My son seemed to like it so guess I did okay.

Okay, so I went to town on this one. This is my second entry for Sunday Stampers Challenge #100. This piece was done on a canvas board painted with Picket Fence Crackle Distress Paint and slightly inked w/Broken China Distress Ink. I used two small canvases as accent pieced on top. There is a lot going on so I am just going to try to list a complete supply list rather than tell you each detail and technique. Hope you like it!

Sunday Stampers Challenge 99--100!

Today's post is my offering for Sunday Stampers combined 99th and 100th week challenge. The theme is Free Bird meaning you are free too choose your own theme, although, you may include a bird if you wish.

I actually got to use my new Ten Second Studios mold with time and clockworks on it. You need to go check them out if you enjoy working with metal---or if you just like crazy and crafty individuals--ha!! Anyway, I embossed copper metal w/the mold and then aged it by painting it w/black acrylic paint and wiping it mostly off before it dried. Aged text from old dictionary w/Vintage Photo Distress Inkpad to use as a background. Harlequin stamp from Stampers Anonymous by Tim Holtz. Filmstrip ribbon also by Tim Holtz as well as the Love key---from his Idea-ology line. Ran copper wire thru my crimper and used as accent on one side of the filmstrip attached w/brads. Card base also inked w/distress inks.

So excited to actually get to enter a challenge on Sunday Stampers. I so admire all of Hels work. You seriously need to go check out her blog--- Ink on My Fingers---you will be so happy to discover her as well!

Okay, so I actually got my mom's bday card done early!! This one is for Simon Says Stamp Challenges Blog---Girly Card. Think this one qualifies! I have recently gotten distracted w/a new obsession---metal!!! Been watching Ten Second Studios' Taco Tuesday archived videos like crazy---it's like potato chips, once you watch one you have to have the whole lot!! Anyway.....this is what I came up w/for Mom.

This is actually done w/faux metal as I am still waiting to get my metal by Ten Seconds. I embossed the 'metal' with Sizzix Embossing folders and inked w/Watermelon Alcohol Inks by Ranger. The main pink card is spritzed w/Perfect Pearls using a Mini Mister before layering other pieces. The middle piece was done by inking the edges of pink cs w/Worn Lipstick Distress Ink then background image was stamped and embossed w/white embossing powder. The decorative corners were embossing w/Cuttlebug ef and punched out w/EK Success photo corner punch. The borders on inside message were done w/Fiskars Heart Border punch. I inked the silver heart brads w/the Watermelon Alcohol inks (per Sheryl's suggestion) and doodled a bit w/a white pen (again, per Sheryl's idea).

Drunken Stampers Challenge #4: Fabric

This is my submission for Drunken Stampers Challenge #4: Fabric

I used two different fabrics on the bottom corners. Then I one of the fabrics to die cut and emboss the flower on the top w/the orange button on it. I spritzed the entire piece w/white Perfect Pearls mixed w/water using a Mini Mister by Ranger. The tag itself was embossed with a Spellbinders Embossibilities plate then inked with Spiced Marmelade, Scattered Straw and Dried Marigold Distress inks. Same inks used for sentiment piece. Used Aged Mahogany DI for the Asian flower stamp image.

This is going to be my friend Cindy's b-day card so it being for the Drunken Stampers challenge is very fitting ;) Cheers Cindy!!

Drunken Stampers Challenge #3

Okay, here I am finally with my submission to Drunken Stampers Challenge #3: Photo Inspirations. Let me tell you, this was quite the challenge for me---hence the last minute submission. This was a photo inspiration challenge and the photo was a Mardi Gras. Further, the challenge was to use 3 or 6 specified bling/embellishment items. Here are the ones I used for the 'double shot':

I also used gold Perfect Pearls mixed w/water and spritzed on background; Distress inks: Pine Needles, Faded Jeans and Concord to ink background paper; Used Liquid fabric applique and heat embossed for hair around face. Used my EK Success Fleur de Lis border punch and Ranger Gold metallic paint dauber to edge. Used postage stamp Cuttlebug die for frames of corsets. Hope you like it. Looking forward to next week's challenge :)

My Design Diva Friend, Chris has been doing such beautiful projects with fabric lately and I have resisted trying it out so far. I bought this fabric with my friend Sheryl during a hysterically funny trip to JoAnn's one day in Oct. Chris saw it at one of our meetings and stated how much she loved it. So, this card is going to be a Thank You to her :)

Fire Brick Distress Ink

The red and gold strips at the bottom were die cut from Grungepaper---one painted w/gold paint dauber and the other w/red acrylic paint and sprited w/gold Perfect Pearls mixed in water using a mini mister. The fabric was torn and frayed a bit before adhering down to gold cardstock. The floral piece was done by stamping the Asian flower on gold cs and heat embossing w/clear embossing powder; then it was painted over w/red acrylic paint; when almost dry I used a damp papertowel to remove the paint from the embossed design revealing the gold paper underneath. The 'thank you' was cut from a Chinese takeout carton using deckle edged scissors, inked w/Fire Brick Distress Ink and edged w/gold paint dauber---then adhered w/foam tape to pop.

This is a card I made for a special friend's b-day. Took a close up for the fragment w/pic on it (pic of her w/my brother). The tag was done w/Distress Inks Dried Marigold, Broken China, Scattered Straw and Worn Lipstick---then spritzed w/white Perfect Pearls and water using a Mini Mister by Ranger. Flowers and brads by Memory Boutique. Hopes she likes it even though it going to be late ;)

Here's a cute little Valentine I made up for my daughter, Dria. This is my attempt at doodling (have been influenced by my Design Diva friend, Chris). Obviously, I still need some practice but it was a lot of fun!

Hearts were cut out w/heart frames die cut from Provo Craft; background paper was embossed with Swiss Dots ef from Cuttlebug/Provo Craft; scalloped oval punch from Stampin' Up! used for sentiment on top; Fire Brick Red Distress ink used for inking edges.
